League starts can feel rough when your character is short on gear, damage, and time. This Arc Totem plan keeps the early game simple: level with Grenades, build up your resources, then move into the totem setup once the character can support it properly. You will not need to force expensive upgrades on day one. A small amount of POE 2 Currency goes a long way when it is spent on the right slots, especially resistances, Spirit, and a useful wand. The campaign becomes much smoother with this approach, and you can enter early maps without feeling as though every rare monster is a wall.
Use Grenades Until the Character Is Ready
Grenades are the practical choice for campaign levelling. Cluster Grenades come online at about level 14, and they immediately make packs easier to handle. Fire them into a group, keep moving, and let the overlapping explosions do the work. You do not need to stand still for every encounter, which matters when the campaign starts throwing larger packs and tougher rares at you.
Mirage Archer adds another layer of steady damage. It is especially handy against bosses, where the extra shots continue while you reposition or avoid incoming attacks. This setup feels quick without demanding perfect equipment. With a sensible route through the acts, including side quests, the Act 4 Grand Expedition, and two early Ascendancy unlocks, many players can finish the campaign in around seven hours. The exact time depends on familiarity and map layouts, but Grenades give you a strong pace from the start.
Make the Arc Totem Swap at the Right Time
The common mistake is changing to Arc Totems too soon. The skill looks appealing, but the finished version needs more than a gem swap. It relies on Spirit, mana control, suitable passive points, and enough defensive support to avoid becoming fragile. Before roughly level 75, the Grenade setup is often faster and less awkward, so there is little benefit in rushing the change.
Around level 75, the character should have three Ascendancy points and enough of the passive tree completed to support the new direction. At that stage, the totems begin to feel like a real upgrade for mapping and boss fights. They can apply pressure while you move, giving you more room to focus on positioning. If the character still feels short on Spirit or mana, stay with Grenades for a little longer. A delayed transition is far better than replacing a smooth levelling build with one that cannot sustain its own skills.
Spend Early Currency on the Slots That Matter
The build does not need a huge pile of expensive gear to get started. A Day 1 version can work with an investment of about 10 Exalted Orbs, provided the purchases are sensible. The wand deserves early attention. Look for +4 spell skills, cast speed, and spell damage, with the strongest combination you can afford rather than chasing one perfect item.
Spirit is just as important. Aim for about 225 total Spirit in the completed setup, while a Scepter with roughly 165 or more Spirit is a useful early target. Strong rolls may cost more soon after launch, so use temporary armour if needed. A helmet or body armour with 50 or more Spirit can keep the build running until a better Scepter appears. For the amulet, +2 spell skills is excellent, but +1 is perfectly serviceable when the stronger version would consume most of your funds. Rings should cover cast speed, mana, and missing resistances. Boots need movement speed, while the helmet and body armour should add Energy Shield and useful defensive stats.
Use the Passive Tree Without Wasting Points
Split Personality gives the Templar version an interesting way to tidy up its passive tree. During the early stages, you may need to spend points on connecting paths simply to reach important clusters. That is fine for levelling. Once the jewel is equipped, though, those travel nodes may no longer be worth keeping. Remove the less useful links and place the saved points into stronger areas that improve Energy Shield, mana, or spell damage.
This is not a trick you need to force during the campaign. Treat it as a respec plan for the transition. First make the character comfortable, then adjust the tree when the required jewel and gear are available. The result is a cleaner late-game layout and fewer points tied up in routes that no longer serve a purpose. Keep an eye on your defences while making changes, since a small amount of extra damage is not worth losing capped resistances or a healthy Energy Shield pool.
Final Thoughts
This starter works because each stage has a clear job. Grenades carry the character through the acts with strong area coverage and dependable boss pressure. Arc Totems take over later, once the character has enough Spirit, mana support, passive investment, and defensive gear. Spend your early resources on resistance capping, a useful wand, Spirit, and Energy Shield before chasing luxury upgrades. Keep temporary items that solve real problems, and replace them one slot at a time rather than emptying your stash for a single flashy purchase. With that steady approach, Path of Exile 2 Currency can fund meaningful upgrades while the build develops into a comfortable mapper and boss fighter.
